Venue

page updated 19th April 2024

Because the Bonar Hall is not available in 2024, we have a new date and venue this year. The festival will be a week later than usual (5th – 7th December 2024) and the festival will be at the Dalhousie Building (Dundee University), Old Hawkhill, Dundee, DD1 5EN

Parking

The Greenmarket multistorey car park is probably the nearest reliable parking place for the Dalhousie Building, and is free after 8pm  – The other near council parking areas are the South Tay Street Car Park, hawkhill Car Park, Olympia Multi Storey Car Park,  and the Gellatly Street Multi Storey Car Park) . More details of Dundee City parking here.

Parking on the University Campus is available for the public but only at the weekends, but it is cheaper and more convenient than parking elsewhere. Payment is via the Ringo app. It is best to set this up before you come and it is easy to use. More about University parking here

Transport

Subject to appropriate availability of services, please consider travelling to the festival by train or bus.

Trainline – organise travel by train. There is also a downloadable app for Apple and Android devices.

Stagecoach Bus – for timetables for Scottish buses

Ember – Frequent services between Dundee, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling, Kinross, Edinburgh Airport and more.

Food!

A lot of people mentioned on the feedback forms that it would be great to have food available during the festival. With our limited resources, this is not possible unless we get approached by a food van or similar. I will shortly add some information about Cafes and Restaurants within walking distance of the Bonar Hall (and Steps Theatre)

Accommodation

Dundee has lots of accomodation within walking distance (or a short bus or taxi ride away). The list below is not exhaustive.
